What is the difference between 66 and Schnapsen?
Schnapsen is the Austrian sister of Sixty-Six and is played with 20 cards, without the nines. The goal is also 66 points, and the other rules are largely the same.
Where does Sixty-Six come from?
A popular story says 66 was invented in 1652 at an inn at Eckkamp No. 66 in Paderborn, Germany. That is a legend: houses had no numbers back then. The first record of the game is a 1813 ordinance of the magistrate of Coburg.
